Q. Market area your exchange covers: A. Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio, Connecticut, Virginia, Tennessee, California, and Nevada.
Q. How long have you been in the barter business?: A. Since July 1993
Q. How long have you been a NATE member?: A. Since July 1993
Q. How have you participated in NATE?: A. I have been on the Board since January 2004, became a CTB in 2000, and have been on numerous panels at conventions.
Q. If you could change one thing about the barter industry what would it be?: A. I would like to change the perception that people can charge more on barter than they can do with cash.
Q. Spouse’s name (if married): A. Lisa
Q. How many children (if any): A. 2, Randy and Samantha
Q. How many grandchildren (if any): A. 0, but am working on that
Q. Favorite vacation: A. Best vacation was after the previous Toronto convention. I brought the family and from there we drove through Vermont to stay north of Boston (New England Trade), then went to New York, and the to Washington, D.C. A great family trip. You should try it this year!
Q. Your hobbies: A. Golf, boating, and fishing
Q. Your education: A. Started college at UW Milwaukee, then along came a sales job
Q. What's the smartest thing you ever did?: A. Asked my wife to a high school dance
Q. What's the dumbest thing you ever did?: A. To work a retail sales job when my children were young. I had to work nights and weekends.
Q. What's your favorite TV show?: A. Must be one on the Food Network
Q. What's the best book you ever read?: A. An Adventure in Mysticism
Q. What's your favorite movie?: A. The Firm
Q. What was your first job?: A. Telephone solicitor for a carpet cleaning business. The salesmen in our industry have such a great story to tell.
Q. What was your last job before you got into the barter business?: A. I was a sales manager at a boat dealership. Fun business, but the hours were terrible (See my hobbies).
Q. What sports (if any) did you (do you) play?: A. Golf now, but I tried everything in high school
Q. What was your first car?: A. 1967 Mustang
Q. What car(s) do you presently own?: A. 2005 Mustang

Q. If you have a motto you try to live by, what is it?: A. “Under promise and over deliver.” Works for about anything, even the Mrs.
