Education Committee

Fran Crumpton, Education Committee Chairman
  • To complete a list of special accolades and promotionals to recognize CTB’s and MTB’s at the conventions and in the NATE Update
  • To obtain the results of the current survey of CTB’s by the next convention to determine names of remaining brokers eligible for certification
  • To establish requirements for non-certified brokers by evaluating number of points currently accrued, and to give them suggestions to implement or to achieve total points necessary in the shortest amount of time
  • To contact NATE members who may employ qualified, non-certified brokers to encourage them to attend NATE conventions, and to remind them to apply for certification; special accolades will distinguish not only the CTB’s but also the exchanges represented
  • To work diligently with the Board of Directors, as well as the Education Committee members, to build value in the accreditation of all NATE member brokers for the advancement of their organization as well as that of NATE
  • To continue the special award – Broker of the Year – for the outstanding NATE broker based on the criteria including large volume transactions, timely response to requests, and creativity – (Brokers will cast their votes by e-mail; the winner will be recognized at the annual NATE convention. Peers will recognize one of NATE’s outstanding brokers)

Ethics Committee

  • To ensure that any change to the Code of Ethics received the required vote by the membership. A vote of approval – which occurs during NATE's annual meeting – from two-thirds of the membership is required in order to change the Code of Ethics.
  • To ensure that all NATE members agree to abide by the Code of Ethics.
  • To ensure that the Code of Ethics are adhered to by members of NATE at all times during their course of business with other trade exchanges – whether members of NATE or not – and businesses – whether clients of their exchange or not.
  • The past presidents of NATE serve on The Ethics Committee.

Finance Committee

Keith Nally, Finance Committee Chairman
  • To present the board and members, professional, timely, and accurate financial data to better assist them in the day-to-day duties as well as the future planning of the NATE organization
  • To maintain copies of bank statements, invoices, and receipts, BANC statements and other records needed for tax and accounting purposes
  • To file Form 990 for the year ended June 30 on a timely basis
  • To meet with the executive director to prepare a detailed budget and discuss revenue options
  • To present an annual budget, including income and expense projections during, the board’s annual meeting

Membership Committee

  • To make any necessary additions or deletions immediately upon receipt of the information, ensuring that all member information is current and accurate
  • To treat all prospects in a friendly and professional manner, executing all of the procedures involved in enrolling new members in such a way as to reflect the mission of the NATE organization
  • To stay informed of any source of information that may lead the committee chair to the acquisition of more prospects, through databases, and other relationships in the barter industry
  • To make biannual contacts to current members, forging a relationship that will encourage the submission of referrals as well as a desire to remain with NATE year after year

Newsletter/Communications Committee

Jerry Howell, Newsletter/Communications Committee Chairman
  • To work diligently and consistently to meet all deadlines required of the position
  • To write a budget for each issue, using this framework to meet the profitability requirements of the publication
  • To revisit advertising pricing, and restructure it in such a fashion as to facilitate the sale of multi-issue ads, thereby relieving the pressure of finding new advertising partners for every issue, and simplifying the budget process for the publication
  • To keep the content current, relative, and informative

Programs Committee

 
  • To learn and develop the topics that will best appeal to the NATE membership
  • To work hard to develop value-added topics that will help exchanges grow and become more profitable
  • To present the meeting schedule and topics to the Board of Directors for its approval in advance of all schedule requirements
  • To ensure schedule and topics are ready for appropriate NATE Update issues in advance of the planned national convention
  • To work with the Board, officers, and Executive Director of the association to develop topics that will increase attendance at NATE meetings
  • To interface with the membership to gather ideas on topics and speakers for the meetings
  • To consult with the committee in selecting the topics from the recommendations, and to schedule times and venues for the educational seminars to be held
  • To identify qualified presenters and or speakers for each of the topics chosen
  • To work with all presenters in submitting their outlines for the programs they are presenting, and organize all information within the conference binder distributed to all attendees
  • To five direction and be of any assistance possible to all presenters during the conference

Technology Committee

  • To keep updated on all new technologies, software, hardware, and other types of equipment and communications that could facilitate efficiencies in operations for NATE and for its member trade exchanges
  • To work with the Programs chair to present relevant information to NATE members at conventions and through other means of communication
  • To communicate with the Programs developer regarding the new BANC Web site
  • To communicate with NATE membership to gather suggestions on the ways new innovations in technology can benefit their trade exchange
  • To work with the Web site developer on continued upgrading of the NATE Web site

The BANC

  • To make welcome calls to all new NATE members, providing them with all of the information they might need regarding the benefits of BANC membership, answering any questions they may have at the time
  • To make sure those desiring participation in the BANC get a membership application, following up with any of those members that do not return their application in a timely manner, and encouraging them to do so as soon as possible
  • To maintain BANC Bylaws as “living documents,” and to keep them current and relevant to the goal of facilitating the ease with which BANC members transact business as well as keeping the BANC currency the strongest and most desirable in the barter industry
  • To work within the guidelines of the BANC Bylaws so that every effort will be made to handle any disputes between members with a goal toward maximum satisfaction by all parties, resulting in increased faith in the BANC
  • To make decisions regarding individual BANC member credit lines based on the members’ volume and timeliness regarding fees
  • To keep the entire Board of Directors involved as to the gross volume being transacted by all BANC members on a monthly basis
  • To work closely with the BANC administrator and the Executive Director to assure that everyone is moving forward toward the goal of growing the BANC and keeping the efficacy of the entire system at the highest level
  • Members of this committee are appointed by the NATE President.
